Professor Cheryl de la Rey served as the first female Vice-Chancellor of UNSW from 2005 to 2015. Professor Jacobs succeeded her, continuing the university's tradition of strong leadership.

Professor Lisa Jackson Pulver, in her role as Deputy Vice-Chancellor serves to promote Indigenous education, research, and engagement.
