The company demands can be fulfilled by the Microsoft Windows Server 2008. It contains all the required technology which the organization wants. And the Microsoft service support is 24x7 so it will reduce the cost of implementation. As most of the client machine running the Windows OS.

The Following Windows feature full fill the requirement of the TridentS company.

1.AD Server for the Centralized user authentication

2.Windows Server Print Service

3.DHCP Service on windows server

4.DNS Service for the access the domain server

5.IIS Web Server for the implementation of the website

6.File Server service in the windows to allow shared drive for all the user

All the above-mentioned service will help in fulfilling the requirement of the TridentS company. And all the network segregation has to be done on the network devices including switch and router. They will provide the proper communication mechanisms between the server and the client machine and also protect the server from the unauthorized access to this network.

The client machine will be running the Windows OS in order to provide the compatibility support.

Configuration

Given Hardware Must be met for each server in order to enable these services.

1.Processor – Dual Core 2.00 GHz or More

2.RAM – 2 GB Minimum

3.HDD – 40 GB Minimum Space

4.NIC Card for network connectivity

Windows Server 2008 must be installed before proceeding to configure this service.

Now according to the instruction provided by the company, there are following services need to be configured on the windows server in order to start using the given services on the windows client machine.

1.AD Configuration

2.DHCP Server Configuration

3.DNS Server Configuration

4.File Server Configuration

5.Print Service Configuration

6.IIS Web Server Configuration

All of the above configuration with the detailed step of configuration and the appropriate snapshot is given below.

Note: For testing purpose, we are using the single server for all the service configuration

Assuming that the windows server is installed and all the basic configuration is done on the server for configuring these services.

AD Configuration

All the steps of configuring the AD server are given below.

1.Open the Server Manager by clicking Start Menu -> Server Manager. And it will open up like given below figure.

2.Now click the Roles in the left above corner below the Server Manager.

3.Now click the Add Roles from the Role Summary and click next to select the AD Service

4.Now check the configuration and click Next.

5.Now review the installation confirmation setup and click Install.

6.It will take few minutes to install after that following window will open up.

Now after the installation, we need to reboot the server for further AD configuration. After rebooting the server the following needs to be done in order to configure the server.

1.After reboot again opens the Server Manager there will be below message showing.

2.Now click the above link it will start the DCPROMO wizard for configuring the AD.

3.After clicking the following installation wizard will open up and then click Next.

4.Click “Next” again because it is just showing some compatibility information.

5.We are going to install the fresh server for the AD select “Create a new domain a new forest” and then click next.

6.Now we have to enter the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) and then click Next. Here we are using the harmanpreet.com.

7.In the given window it will ask us the forest functional level. Select the appropriate server level and click next. In this case, we have selected the “Windows Server 2008”

8.Now since it is Domain Controller so it will require the DNS Server so select the DNS server and click next.

9.Now it will open a pop click, yes to go further.

10.In this window, it will show up the database location to be stored to keep it default and click next.

11.Now in the given window define the restore password for the service when the server crash it will provide the backup to it.

12.In this, it will give a brief summary of the setup click next.

13.Now it will start installing the service of the AD and start its actual service after installation

14.After installing the server needs to be a reboot and after that use the following username and administrator password.

Username: HARMANPREET.COM\Administrator

Password : **********

15.Now it is done we can see the service in the start menu

DHCP Server Configuration

All required configuration steps are given below to install the DHCP Service

1.Again open the server manager and click Roles.

2.Now in the Add Roles wizard Select the DHCP Service and click next

3.We just need to configure the static IP to avoid any warning issue before continuing the steps. In our case, we have already configured the IP so it will bind to that IP. And click Next

4.Enter required details of the Parent Domain, Preferred and alternate DNS server and click next

5.Now configure a scope of DHCP Server for a specific range of network according to the requirement. For this network, we have chosen the network 192.168.56.0/24.

6.Now need to do anything in the DHCPv6 Stateless Mode and IPv6 DNS Setting click next. Now the DHCP Server Authorization setup will ask just use the current credentials and click next.

7.Now confirm configured setting and click install and it will take some time and it will be configured.

8.When installation finished no need to restart the server click close and we can manage the service from the server manager.

DNS Server Configuration

As in the AD configuration, the DNS Service has already configured so no need to do an additional effort in order to set up. We can manage the DNS service from the server manager.

File Server Configuration

File server configuration of the windows 2008 is given below step by step.

1.First, we need to create a folder for the file sharing.

2.Now enable the windows server 2008 File sharing from the control panel in order to allow the sharing of the actual file and folders. Enable file sharing by Change advanced sharing settings link located near the top left-hand corner network and sharing center.

3.Now we can manage the File service from the server manager also.

4.Go to the newly created folder for sharing. Now right click on the shared folder and click on sharing tab.

5.And then click the share button just below the folder.

6.Now choose the user to share with according to the privilege level. And allow the user access.

7.Now click okay the path will set for the user in the user directory.

This step will be repeated according to the requirement of the folder for each user and can give multiple user access to the same folder.

Print Service Configuration

All the steps to configure the print server on the server are given below.

1.Now again open the server manager and click the add roles.

2.Use the wizard to select the Print and document service, After that click next.

3.Clicking the Print Server and another service as required and then click next.

4.Now confirmation will show up the check and click install.

5.Now the installation will finish and will show the following screen box.

6.Now we can manage the print services from the Server Manager. The option will be located in the left tree as Print and Document Services

IIS Web Server Configuration

The configuration steps are given below.

1.Click Start-> All Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Server Manager.

2.Now in the Roles summary and then click Add Roles. The Add Roles Wizard will start with a Before You Begin page select the Web Server (IIS).

3. The wizard asks for verification of the following:

1.The administrator account has a strong password.

2.The network settings, such as IP addresses, are configured.

3.The latest security updates from Windows® Update are installed.

4.In the next window select the required services for the IIS web server. Add only the modules necessary. In this case, ASP.NET is selected, and a description of ASP.NET appears in the right pane. After that click next.

5.In the confirmation window, it will show the all the required services will be installed on the server.

6.Click install it will take some time and after that, the service will be installed and it will open the web page like given below.

7.When we click finish it will open up the default page of the IIS web server.

Summary

In summary, the required feature for the organization is completed using the windows server 2008. Now this will help in the administrator and the management of the company to manage different parts of the network and services according to its requirement.

The configuration performed on the different servers are given below.

1.AD server

The AD Server will help in providing the centralized user authentication and management services

2.DHCP Server

The DHCP Server will provide the Dynamic IP to the host machine inside the company’s network

3.DNS Server

The DNS Server will provide name resolution of the local server as well as used for the internet services to reduce bandwidth load on the internet link.

4.Print Service on Server

This will allow the sharing of the printer machine among all the user. An administrator can easily block the service according to its need.

5.File Sharing Service

All the main file will be stored in the one location and sharing of these files will be done through the network services of the company

6.IIS Web Service

This will host the company’s website.
