MAN6325 Leadership Development Proof Reading Service
The purpose of the assessment is to provide a real-life situation that can be used to show proficiency in making decision, interpretation, and analysis. This mining case scenario creates a research of combined research experience and management practices in the global mining field. The scenario describes the mining field in detail and maintenance specifically. The mine produces copper cathodes using the electrowinning technology as well as heap leaching technology. The maintenance activities are done worldwide with high cost and for that, a specific proportion of equipment is used. The competitive industry majorly depends on high rate cost-effective strategy.
Figure 1Prince2 Methodology
The objectives of the project are as follows:
1.The primary objective of the project is to understand the relationship in between the maintenance of organization and the actual state of the organization.
2.Understanding the procedure whatever is taken by the organization for the maintenance practices.
3.Development of project development plan to the implementation of a solution which is proposed.
4.The identification of root cause and validation of as is maintenance state.
5.Development of tree which can establish a relationship in between the practice of maintenance and the goal of the organization.
After joining of the new CEO Price of copper gets decrease and there is 3month to make an improvement. There is a different type of maintenance practice like run to failure, preventive and the predictive and the most recent maintenance approach is described called EAM i.e. Enterprise Asset Management.
It is difficult to determine the total cost of maintenance but it can be calculated by % of total operating expenditure. The maintenance cost can be 35-65% of the total annual operating cost. As per the given scenario, the total operating cost is about $448, so the maintenance cost may be nearly $155 to $300. But the risk is also associated with this assessment as management couldn’t describe the maintenance clearly like what type of resources, parts are required than others. They haven’t any metrics to demonstrate the proof of continuous improvement (Sswm.info, 2018).
Description & Rationale
The need of product is to increase the profitability of the P&R Limited organization. The purpose of the assessment is to provide a real-life situation that can be used to show proficiency in making decision, interpretation, and analysis. This mining case scenario creates a research of combined research experience and management practices in the global mining field. The scenario describes the mining field in detail and maintenance specifically. The CEO of the company has a target to achieve target is as follows:
1.To make improvement of 15% in production
2.To reduce the cost operation by 20+%
3.To reduce 20% in investment.
The targeted users are P&R Limited company who wanted to increase productivity and decrease operation and investment cost. To solve the problem CEO of the company has to fulfill the objective of the respective organization. The organization has following stakeholders:
3.China Shenhua Electric
The expected benefits are as follows:
1.Production increases production rate by of 15%.
2.The cost of operation will be decreased by 20+%
3.The investment will be reduced by 20% (Simplilearn.com, 2018).
Costs and timescale
The maintenance cost can be 35-65% of the total annual operating cost. As per the given scenario, the total operating cost is about $448, so the maintenance cost may be nearly $155 to $300 and the timescale for the whole project is 3 months (Sites.ed.gov, 2018).
If the improvement project is not analysed carefully then the improvement time can be get delayed and the budget of the project can vary from the expected results in the stop of the whole project. If any disaster will happen then the project can be disturb.
If production rate can’t meet with the expectation or quality of product not met with the expectation then the whole production become waste and the company has to face higher loss (Pm4id.org, 2018).
No, the proposed solution doesn’t abide any law. Yes, the project and process of improvement, cost reduction aligns with the PMI codes of ethics. There are some mining companies also who involve in the mining of copper. Mean P&R may have to face the copyright issues. If the working software didn’t work perfectly then the production of the product or machine can’t respond as per expectation. If the company’s privacy will be violated by the unauthorized or any employee then the company can fail. The process of production enhancement aligns with ethical values (Pmi.org, 2018).
How long the project will take
As per the given scenario, the project will take approx. three months of improvement in production, reduction in the cost of operation and reduction in investment cost. The average cost of the project will be 35-65% of the total annual operating cost and as per the scenario the total operating cost of the P&R Company is about $448, so the improvement in maintenance cost may be nearly $300 and the timescale for the whole project is 3 months. The project will be delivered after completion of three months.
What the major deliverables or products will be, key milestones and dates
There should be a supervisor to supervise the worker and responsibility to complete the work
1-1-2018 to 10-1-2018
The site admin should be there to manage the facilities over there on site and management of the site
11-1-2018 to 15-1-2018
Research and Technical support
There should be an analyst to develop a full proof project successful plan and to provide information on required technical items. The analyst also has to provide technical support as per requirement.
16-1-2018 to 20-1-2018
There should be a maintenance provider whenever the production software or machine required
21-1-2018 to 31-3-2018
There should be enough labor to process the whole work
21-1-2018 to 31-3-2018
The electricity bill and power consumption require should be there.
21-1-2018 to 31-3-2018
Ore of waste, material, extracted material
21-1-2018 to 31-3-2018
The organization also has to bear sufficient fund to manage the payroll of the whole project
21-1-2018 to 31-3-2018
Technical team should be there to handle utilities, technologies and machinery work
The company should have to create a backup Insurance to handle disasters

What people and other resources will have to be committed in order to meet the plan
The people and the other resource that have to be committed to meet with the plan are as follows:
1.Top level management of the company.
5.Technical support team
9.All six company who will involve in the mining of copper
12.Site administrator(pmtips, 2018)
How quality will be maintained
By tracking production, site maintenance, labor time management, testing of the produced product, calculating the cost of production in the first month, effective communication in between all related stakeholders, the quality of project could be managed.
Work Breakdown Structure
Risks are there in the approach taken
There is some risk in the approach taken, are as follows:
1.Wear and tear of equipment failure.
2.Random nature of the failure of a light bulb or stop working of other equipment’s.
3.Age-basedfailure of equipment.
4.Replacement of equipment without testing properly.
5.Rapidly decrease the cost of copper in share market.
6.Loss of life
7.Randomly happened natural disaster
Risk Management Strategy
Risk Severity matrix
Benefit Review Plan
Identify objective measures of benefit achievement
The objective measure of benefits is as follows:
1.Enhancement of production rate by of 15%.
2.Reduction of operation cost by 20+%.
3.The investment will be reduced by 20% (Sites.ed.gov, 2018).
Assemble measurements of the current situation against which the improvements will be compared
The computerized maintenance management system failed much time in the management of transactional and information about maintenance
Now the system could be able to manage any amount of workload of transactional and information maintenance.
Adoption of predictive maintenance
Adoption of continuous maintenance
Late receiving PDM data
On time data receiving
Supervisor constant complaints about the failure
Perfect working of machine and equipment
HR recruitment and the process of training
HR has hired a professional worker who requires minimized training
Material mismatch planned as well as the actual timeframe(Management Plaza, 2018)
Selection of material after matching with planning will never conflict with the time frame
Decide how, and when the benefits will be measured so the Unit Coordinator (project review board in PRINCE2) can assess the final product
When the P&R Company’s CEO will achieve the objective of the company by following the maintenance procedure and following project review board using PRINCE2 methodology then the unit coordinator can assess the final product which is as follows
1.Giving direction to project manager.
2.Providing proper authorization project manager using PRINCE2 in organizational structure
3.Integration of team of internal or external functional units
4.Funding the project properly
5.Supporting the project manager throughout the project
6.By approving plans and required resources
7.Authorization to avoid tolerances
8.Approval of time frame(P2.tech-academy.co.uk, 2018)
I have successfully completed the assessment of project proposal whereas a CEO of the P&R Company I have created a proposal to make improvement in production and reduce costing of investment as well as a reduction in operation cost. For this, I have first identified the purpose of the project as well the objective of the P&R Company who is involved in the mining of copper and its ores. I have also developed project plan including development cost as well as the time frame to complete this project. I have also identified the maintenance issue, potential difficulties and risk analysis as well as product risks. I have also defined law, copyrights issues, software issues, costing of the project, the time is taken and improvements whatever I have done. The assessment will help the learner to understand mining concept and improvement in production as well as a reduction in the cost of operation.
