ITC 504 Interface Usability Proof Reading Services
This is the assessment 5 of ITC 504 Interface Usability
The application is designed to solve the Sydney toll road problem. The application is presented by design the wireframes in Balsamiq tool. In wireframes, all the features are designed that are used to solve the problems. The application is completed in four phase wherein first phase, the demo is present with two alternative designs. In phase 2, select a design to develop the prototype for Sydney toll road application with documentation. In the third phase, we evaluate other group designs and give feedback and in phase 4, the feedbacks are received for our design. After getting the feedback, we modify the application according to the feedbacks and present them with documentation. After completing the Sydney toll road application, the toll road problem is completely solved. In future, the application will be improved according to the number of users.
The application is designed to solve the Sydney road problem where number of features such as Apply for e-tag, cancel e-tag, chat option, login page, registration page, add a vehicle, trip history are designed. The user can able to email the report, toll notice feature, and cash back feature. All the screens are containing a back button, search option, help option, and breadcrumbs etc. According to the user requirement, the application allows the user to access the application after registration and login. Here, I present the application screen with their common features that make the application more impressive and effective.
To develop the Sydney toll road application, the usability principle of Nielsen model is followed on every screen of the application. Every page contains back button, search option, help option and a menu button that complete the requirements of the Nielsen model usability principle. All the navigation is designed to guide the user and to secure the application, the login and registration page is designed and homepage contains all the menu option. The forms contain various fields with clear visibility and also guide the user which type of information it required to fill. This is shown in figure 2.
The feedbacks that are received to improve the application: first feedback is to improve the visibility principle by changing the background image to show the breadcrumbs clearly. Second is to improve the help, user recognize, diagnose and recover from error principle by providing the error message when the user does not fill mandatory information in the form. To improve the help and documentation principle by providing the guidance in the form to show which type information they can fill. Third feedback is that to improve the error prevention principle by provide the confirmation message when user click on submit button and if they fill incorrect details in the form, then it must show an error message to the user. Provide menu button on every page to improve the consistency principle of the Nielsen heuristic model (Seraj, 2012). All the received feedbacks are resolved by applying the changes in the application. The modifications are designed error message when user fill wrong information, design confirmation message when user perform any action like submit the details, change the background image, design menu button on every screen and design the exit and back button on the chat screen to improve the visibility and user control principle.
Reflection of Interface Design
User interface design
This application is designed to solve the problem of the road. With this the toll road problem is solved by designing various features. With this Sydney toll road the user easily their vehicle by adding the vehicle name, toll id, registration number, type of vehicle, model number, and parking type. The user also easily applies for e-tag and he could be the e-tag click on cancel e-tag button. After payment user is able to check the payment history and trip history to click on these form the menu page. If the wants to take cash back, then click on cash back button and fill the required information and then submit it. The cash back should be received and the detail or report is mailed the given user email id. This is shown in figure 3.
The design is completed all the requirements of a heuristic model of Nielsen. The heuristic model applied to the design with all the usability principle. The principle is followed by designed the various functions to make application easy for the users.
According to the user the application should secure and followed all the usability principle of the model (Nielsen) and easy for the users. The Sydney toll road application should easily access by the new users and experienced users.
Justification for design
To complete the user requirements, the application all the usability principle. Now discuss all the usability principle where they applied.
The visibility of system status principle is implemented on every screen of the application with the the back button on the and implementing some confirmation messages before any action. The match between system and the real world principle is followed by design the easy and similar fonts on every screen, design easy function that should not create any confusion to the users. The date picker and drop down functionality is used to complete this principle. The user control and freedom principle followed by design the exit button, back button to go on the screen of the application. To complete the consistency principle, we design back button, breadcrumbs, help option, search option, menu button and chat option on every screen of the application. The other principle followed by the documentation to guide the user, provide error message with a that easy to new users, select appropriate font and designed various feature that of the Sydney toll road (Nielson, 1995).
Factors that are influenced in app design
To influence the app design, the user requirements, design principles, business requirements and competitors are followed. The user requirement is that the application should be easy for the new users and experienced user and must the requirement Nielson heuristic model usability principle. The application should be secure. To secure the application the registration page and login page is designed, only registered user can access the application without any problems. To develop the application, the design principle also followed. The Nielsen provide ten usability principle to designed the application such as Visibility of system status, Match between system and the real world, User control and freedom, Consistency and standards, Error prevention, Recognition rather than recall, Flexibility and efficiency of use, Aesthetic and minimalist design, help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors, Help, Documentation, and Overall strategic suggestions. To develop the Sydney toll road application, these given design are completely followed. With these design the application is designed the user requirement and system requirement. These usability principles application easy and attractive. The business requirement completed by the registration and login page that secure the information of users. In the , there are very competitors those also provide this type application for solving the problem of toll road but this Sydney toll road application better (Wiley, 1997).
Discussion of similar interface
In the , there application which available that are designed to solve the toll road problem. Now, compare the Sydney toll road application with other designed toll road application.
The comparison of toll road app with an (Toll Road)
Sydney toll road application: This app various features that are given above such as apply e-tag, cancel e-tag, add vehicle, payment history, trip history toll notice. The application should contain login page and registration before access the application.
toll road application:This application does not contain any login and registration page. The user is able to access this application without any registration. In this app first, you set the location and then after select menu option the menu is opened. After the fix, the location of vehicle adds the other details.
The CA toll road app provides to get the costs of the toll road and help to user to save their amount. These are depicted in figure 4 and 5.
In this report, the interface is presented of the Sydney toll road application with followed design principle, user requirements, and business requirement. Here, I also explain the implemented features in the application and functionalities that make application easy and attractive, and at last, show the comparison between the Sydney toll road application and Indonesia toll road application with evidence.
