Ethos of scholarship

The Ethos of scholarship refers to as the ethics which relate to the obtaining of knowledge or its acquisition through the use of authentic, valid, original and replicable standards. These include three elements namely critical self-reflection, perspective transformation and extending the level of learning and understanding. The ethics require that knowledge has to be developed through different loops of learning also known as learning processes. Critical self-reflection means the influence of actions which depict the intentions and purpose of getting knowledge management and how knowledge acquisition purpose will be influenced by identity and thinking. The perspective transformation takes place when an unusual or sudden event happens which was not expected and it does not match with the understanding and knowledge possessed. These elements help in continuous learning and development through experience by incorporating the understanding skills through reflection of intentions and taking actions in unfamiliar situations as against the learning developed so far.

Values and ethical practice

The values and ethical practice is the core of knowledge acquisition and communication. The ethical methods shall be adopted which reflect the values in respect of intentions and actions of a person in various circumstances on happening of events. (Elizabeth, M. 2010)

Part B-Intra-self-communication

It refers to as the act of assessing, creating and working upon own self attributes and individual aspects such as values, beliefs, morale, gender, health education, emotions, etc. According to Kaye (2014) the process of intra self-communication starts with developing the understanding of self in respect of individual values and attributes possessed by self. This can be done through self-knowledge acquisition and self-awareness by understanding the sources which affect the life of individual and the reasons which established the situations to live the life like the way individual is living. The awareness id identified by realising and identifying the differences between others and self in respect of values, beliefs and ethics, knowledge and learning. In this way intra-self-communication means asking questions from self and getting the answers also by self through self-analysis and evaluation. The questions that need to be asked for this process include identification of past experiences and beliefs which forms the base for the present, the things, people, attitudes, ideas, concepts, places etc which have an important place in life or included in the favourites, the contribution and interaction made to the world on daily basis, methods of doing things, learning and obtaining knowledge and the ways in which knowledge is acquired and learning is developed regularly and on a continuous basis. In this intra self-communication is an essential process which is the part of foundation learning and is included in the initial stage of learning and knowledge acquisition process.


From the above discussion about the initial stage of learning and communication process and methods of intra-self-communication and ways to develop learning and understanding, it can be concluded that the learning and understanding of self through developing the skills of intra self-communication process applied on self is essential to enhance the knowledge of an individual and his ability to develop the methods and ways of effective learning and obtaining requisite and relevant information from the outside through interaction with the world and experiencing the unfamiliar events and situations.
