Executive Summary

In activity 1 of week 6, discussed the linear programming method and relational decision-making model to find the solution of business-related problems such as resource allocation with maximum profit and minimum cost. In this activity, explain the limits of linear programming methods and also discussed the problems and situations where the linear programming is used. Activity 5 of week 3 describes the topologies and models to make changes in the corporate culture. In this activity, I have defined the benefits of the best topology for making changes in the corporate culture.

Week 6 – Activity 1– Linear Programming Word Problem

1.What insights into rational decision-making approach can you draw from this video?

Answer:  According to this video, the relational decision-making model works with a framework that introduces the multi-step working process model. This model is identified and analyzes the linear problems. The linear programming is defined and evaluated the problems and gives the decisions with alternative and best possible solutions. It calculates the maximum profit and gives define the minimum cost.  With linear programming, we can solve the real world mathematical problems with best alternative solutions similarly the relational decision-making model sets up the given problems. It also used for the problems of resource allocation that finds the best solution of these resource allocation problems. The possible optimized resources are money, technology, man force, job, energy, profit etc. the linear programming is started with the fields of mathematics that have practiced with industries and trades. It follows the decision making procedures and mechanism that verify the problems. This mechanism is used to establish reliable solution and accurate decision with approaches and models. It refines the decision making quality and it is a very flexible approach that analyses the problems of multi-dimensional.

2.What would be the limitations of linear programming?

Answer:

1.It cannot solve the real-life problems which include the numerous variables and constraints with multiple dimensions. It cannot handle the domain with a good approach and cannot map every problem into the mathematical terms.

2.The linear programming is very time consuming to solve the real life problems and it has constraints with several areas that implement to find the solution but it cannot cover up the social, institutional and financial changes.

3.For linear programming, it is not easy to solve the objective function of the mathematical form. If the function of mathematical is determined but for linear programming, is difficult to resolute the constraints like financial, social, and others.

4.For mathematical techniques, it is very complex and it presents the error and trial solution. LP models are very difficult to give the optimal solution to several business problems (IBM, n.d).

3.In what kinds of situation could the linear programming be useful to decision making?

Answer:  The linear programming method is used to achieve the best result of business problems and it represents the mathematical programming to find the maximum profit and minimum cost. Mostly the linear programming is used straightforward and a single method to solve the problems and it is the best advantage of the linear programming as a comparison to non-linear programming. The linear programming is used by the business organisation to allocate the resources with best outcomes in given framework. The linear programming uses mathematical tool to allocate the resources to compete for the demands with optimal outcomes. With the linear programming, the manager of the organization aim is to achieve the goals with maximum profit and minimum cost. To give the best business problems outcome, it uses four components that are given as Decision variable, data, objectives function, and constraints (Orms, n.d).

Week 5 – Activity 3– Cultural web and its use in practice (call center)

1.Do you agree with the author’s view on the effectiveness of cultural web model in changing the corporate culture (compared to other models of corporate culture) as presented in the article? Why or why not?

Answer:  Yes, I agree with the author view related to the given cultural web models to change the culture of the corporate as compared to the other models. I agree with that because the corporate culture is following the country cultures and never try to change it. According to the author, if the corporate cultures will change than they required making a leader who will build culture models to change corporate culture. There are two types of models which are defined by the author: first is depicts a culture that provides a geometric shape culture where spoke length starts from the center of the shape and it reflects with specific topology (corporate culture) and elements. The specific elements of the corporate culture mean Avoidance and achievement or intolerant. The second type of model creates the textual description of elements of the corporate culture. For description, this model uses plain text or words. Both types of cultural models have used to analyze the culture of corporate and try to change the culture of corporate. According to the article, the authors say that the first type of model is best to change the corporate culture because it required least efforts by the team of leadership and more descriptive. It makes a better picture of the corporate culture changes by using a very successful tool or technologies.

2.What would be the benefits of using typology type instead?

Answer: according to the author the first topology is best for making changes in the corporate culture because the first topology is more descriptive and required very least efforts of the leadership team of the corporate. A number of the organization uses very good technologies and tool for their sells department and marketing department and because of this tool, they get success in their business. To creating a better picture to make changes in the business or corporate culture the first define topology is best. Now, discuss the benefits of using the first topology that is given in the article:

1.The various organization is used this topology in sells and marketing departments to save the cost and time. With this topology, the organization gets the success.

2.This topology has easily created the image and model to change the culture of corporate without more efforts and more time.

3.This model is used six elements to make changes in the culture of corporate within budgets and time. The six elements are given as rituals and routine, symbols, stories, power structure, the structure of the organization, and control system (Change Factory, 2014).

Conclusion

Inactivity 1 of week 6, I have learned the linear programming methods, how it can be implemented and in which situation it can be applied by the organization. The manager of the organization is used the linear programming methods to allocate the limited resources in maximum profit and invest minimum cost. In the second activity of week 5, I have discussed the models or topology to make changes in the corporate culture. After the study of given article, I found that first topology is best for making changes in the culture of corporate and author also says that the topology first is best (it provide geometric shape culture where spoke length starts from the center of the shape).
