The project of building the website for online library helped in realizing the importance of e-business in today’s world. The main objective behind using the template was that it will fasten the development process.

For the online library to be successful, it was important to structure the library in a manner that the user can search the books easily. Also searching facilities based on ISBN number, authors were provided for increasing the user convenience. The group also researched on the payment systems available for e-business so that a secured payment system could be integrated with the website.  Before starting the development, the group has conducted the environment and stakeholder analysis so as to identify the expectations of customers and the forces which would be impacting the business. Following this approach has helped in better requirement analysis and has contributed in development of an online library which meets the customer expectation (Berthon.et.al, 1996).

For the development of the website, the first thing was to select a tool for the development. The tool selected for the development was Joomla. One of the important tasks in the project was to design the website. It was decided to select a template which relates to the theme of the website i.e. the online library. Using the template will help in faster development as most of the features required are available in website. A console was also designed for web administrator for administering the website like adding the books to the library etc. Various online blogs, forums have been used during the development of the project for resolving the issues faced during the project.


The online library has the feature where the users can search the book on the basis of ISBN number, author name subjects etc. This allows the users a convenience to search the books in library. HikaShop is also integrated which helps in adding the books to the library. This will be provided in the admin control and would help the admin to add, update and delete the book in the library. A secured payment system is integrated so that the chances of any kind of frauds are minimized.

There are several improvements which could be done in future like the incorporation of an aid tool which would be helpful for the visually impaired people. Also the feature of leasing the books can also be integrated where the users would be able to lease for a period of time.
