Introduction

Film or cinema is described as an art form that makes a huge impact on the minds of people (Crystal, 2013). It is observed that for the making of a film, it goes through three vital phases that comprises of pre-production, production and lastly the post-production phase. During this period, a group of people come together to form a working organisation that has characteristics obstacles of motivation, structure and leadership. Therefore, it is a temporary organisational unit where a group of individuals collaborate and create an innovative product in the form of films or cinemas (Stark, 2015). For any organisation to accomplish its goals and objectives, creativity and innovation plays a significant role. I believe that a creative ideology and system implementation of those ideology gives rise to innovation. Therefore, the contribution of creativity, innovation and design plays an effective role in creating an artistic form of a film. It is observed that in the production and post-production phase of a film production the role of sound and lighting plays a significant role. It is here where the people involved in this department applies creative ideas that gives rise to innovation in itself. In my opinion, creativity and innovation are fundamental part of the same process. In the course as well a close relation between creativity and innovation has been established that is similar to my ideology of creativity and innovation.

This course covers dynamic and contemporary perception of creativity, innovation and design. The course have efficiently helped me to realise the significance of creativity, innovation and design in a business organisation. In my opinion, the contemporary business market is highly competitive and in order to survive and gain success in highly competitive industry, an organisation has to deliver creative and design innovative solutions or services that stands out from the rest of the competitors (Anderson, Poto?nik & Zhou, 2014). This course have provided me to instigate innovation and creativity in myself and approaches with the help of which I could implement in my performance. For instance, in an individual level factors such as motivation, cognition ability, personality influence the creativity and innovation. Similarly, the course helps to identify other factors as well in organisational and group level for the purpose of stimulating innovation and creativity. This knowledge management will help me in my career as I will be able to utilise and sharpen my skills for enhancing my creativity and innovation. In addition to this, the creative problem solving process (CPS) that is discussed in this course elaborately, will help to expand my domain of creativity. The course offers me a dynamic theoretical explanations which will guide me in overcoming the challenges that I may face in future. I believe that business organisations are highly characterised by risk and uncertainty and with the help of systematically applying creative thinking we can overcome such obstacles (Chalmers, 2013).

Prior to this course, I did not realise that it would be possible for stimulating innovation and creativity within a group setting as well. However, after the completion of this course, I realised that there are certain factors that can trigger the level of creativity and innovation within a group of individuals. This will help to give out a product that stands unique and innovative than the rest of the competitors in the market. For example, factors such as structure of the organisation, leadership, working environment and so on are some of the factors that influence, creativity, innovation and design at the group level. I even acquired the knowledge of innovation management with the help of which an organisation can develop new ideas, process that would benefit it for bringing in creativity. Innovation management procedure offers a set of tools with the implementation of which the organisation combine innovation processes and change management (Langley et al., 2013). For instance various innovation management tools such as brainstorming, portfolio management, and so on helps to enhance the creative level of each individual within a group.

This course influenced my perception about creativity, innovation and design extensively. The close relationship between creativity and innovation made me realise that creativity and innovation are two sides of the same coin. A creative idea of an individual gives rise to innovation (Majchrzak & Malhotra, 2013). The course also helped me to identify various techniques and procedure with the help of which I can enhance and develop my creative thinking. The course even helped me clear my misconception about creativity that it is not possible for an individual to enhance their level of creativity. The various innovation management tools such as brainstorming, mind maps and so on an individual can enhance their creative thinking. The course also introduced me with the methodology of design thinking with the help of which an innovative idea may emerge. These concepts will help me in my future profession since, the significance of creativity, innovation and design is extreme in the highly competitive business environment.
