In this report, it is to be introduced that the Plagiarism is a technique in which a person copies all the data and information from the presentation made by the other person. More things about the plagiarism are being explained like challenges, recommendations, consequences are being explained in deeply to explain it and to give more knowledge. Factors are being explained which lead it to occur and results in the critical consequences. Concepts of Plagiarism are being explained and importance is being explained with the reasons so that it can be minimized and fresh data can be used by the people. Methods and factors are being explained so that it can be avoided hence; the duplication of the information can be reduced. Technological advancements are being considered so that these practices can be reduced. Various punishments are being introduced so that Plagiarism can be controlled.
Meaning of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the technique in which a copy is being made of the thoughts, ideas, expressions and presentation. This copy is being made by the other person in order to maintain the data for the research or to submit the report or the assignment in the universities. The data and information can be collected from the published and unpublished data. The copy or the document is being given an own name to represent it for oneself. The data and information can be copied from the internet, writing, journals, magazines, articles, books etc. so that the assignment and research can be made and prepared. Images, videos, sentences, words can be copied so that the presentation can be made more attractive, understanding and beautiful. After copying or pasting the material it is important to show the relevant name of the person in the presentation or it is important to show the source of reference in the documents. If a person fails to properly refer the source of information is called as Plagiarism (Salleh, et. al., 2012). Plagiarism can lead to many of the consequences and can create legal actions towards a person in not using referencing the proper like of the source.
Consequences of plagiarism
Many of the factors are responsible for giving air to the plagiarism to give rise. This will give rise to many of the consequences which are not right for the followers to develop and grow. These consequences are being explained so that it can be avoided and new data are being used from different sources:
Punishments: Punishments are to provide to the researchers and students in order to use the plagiarism in preparing the research and documents or assignments (Gullifer and Tyson, 2010). This is done as to not use the words, sentences, paragraphs same as one has done before. Sometimes punishment is being given so that plagiarism can be reduced and even avoided (Salleh, et. al., 2012).
Involvement of risk: Great risk is involved in plagiarism like the wrong interpretation of information, a copy of the whole data, privacy gets disclosed and a lot more. These issues are to be solved if precautions are being taken on time.
Breach of Laws: Due to the use of copying of data in the research report and in the assignments, it can lead to the breach of laws. This can result in the law being sui on the leader or the person is using the copy of the author. The two people using the same author can be indicated as a risk or fraud issues (Karabag and Berggren, 2012).
Honesty and trust: The plagiarism is being used at a high level; honesty and trust get to break down (Salleh, et. al., 2012). The trust and the honesty get breakdown which can lead the unfair means being done after copying the documents and articles (Owunwanne, et. al., 2010). Follow does not trust these types of documents and reports as they the copies made by the other persons giving their own name.
Issues in Privacy: The privacy gets diminished when the copies are being in more than one. Copying and pasting the same material in other documents and providing the other name can be an issue arise of breaking the policy rules and policies. This can create a problem for the person doing plagiarism (Karabag and Berggren, 2012).
Wrong interpretation of information: Wrong interpretation of the date is to being analysed. Because of the copying of the data from different sources, it is being an issue created that the data is being wrongly presented and analysed by the readers and being interpreted by the leaders too (Owunwanne, et. al., 2010). The information provided is not being understood properly by the followers and being wrongly explained by them.
Meeting of deadlines: For completing the task and work under the deadline mentioned for the task is a big challenge. Many of the alternatives are being used as a means to complete the task. To complete the reports and the work assigned by the leader’s wrong methods and minute data is being used. This gives rise to the copying the documents and articles in order to meet the deadline of the task.
These issues are being occurred by the copying of data from the sources so precautions are being taken and issues are to be resolved (Karabag and Berggren, 2012).
Approaches and recommendations to avoid Plagiarism
There are many of the approaches are being used so that the use of plagiarism can be reduced. These approaches are being explained below:
Spread Awareness: Many of the students and people do not know the meaning of plagiarism (Salleh, et. al., 2012). It is important to know the meaning of it so that they do not know falls under the category of law and being suited by any author or person. This can make the person aware of the laws and policies in order not to do any mistakes. By spreading the awareness will lead to less number of mistakes and the work can be done correctly (Idiegbeyan-Ose, et. al., 2016). Awareness will also help in making more and more person knowing about the consequences and issues (Karabag and Berggren, 2012). Awareness changes the perception of the person and influences them to think more and in a different way.
A number of activities: while conducting the research and making the assignments, it is the duty and responsibility of the teachers and lecturers to give the number of activities to the researchers and students (Gullifer and Tyson, 2010). These activities can be similar or can be different so they do not copy the information and data from different sources. A number of activities will also lead to more number of works hence; fewer people will get less time to copy the information from other sources.
Group activities: Different types of activities are being organized so that the students and the person can innovate different ideas to conduct the activities and the information being collected by each individual will be different (Gullifer and Tyson, 2010). This can help in using different types of sources and new ideas would become up from different brains. This will help in showing the talent and skills of the person. Group activity will result in no person will be used by two different group members of the same topic. Irrelevant data cannot be used in the group activities this will help the person in making their own notes.
Different Authors: In making the documents different authors can be used of the same topic so that plagiarism can be reduced and removed. As there are many authors of who gives their views on the same topic. This gives more relevance in the topics and plagiarism can be reduced. Views and thoughts of different authors can be used as a means of using the data (Salah, et. al., 2012). This will help in getting more knowledge and information. Furthermore, different sources can be used in order to collect the data.
Summarization: As many of the subtopics are being included in report or documents. These subtopics are being shown in summarised form. This can give the more explanation on the topics in own words by the person. Summarization will also help in thinking about the topic more deeply and from a different direction. Innovations: New ideas are being introduced so that the data cannot be copied from the same sources. New innovative ideas are to be innovated so that plagiarism cannot be done (Salleh, et. al., 2012). The words, sentences are to be thought so that freshness can be brought so that the documents can be made influencing and impressive.
Rewriting: If the documents are being seen to be copied from other sources then, rewriting of the documents are done again. The professors and teachers can adopt this strategy and the students and researchers ask to write the research report and assignment so that the plagiarism can be removed and do not be adopted again (Pritchett, 2010).
This is to be concluded from the report that plagiarism is copying the data from different sources. Plagiarism can lead to different types of issues and challenges. Various techniques, methods, and approaches are being provided so that solutions can be provided and actions can be taken accordingly. Different authors can be used on the same topic so that plagiarism can be avoided and cannot be used in the further process. Punishments and strict actions can be taken so that it can be avoided and fresh information and data can be used with more thoughts and innovations.
