Data

Reason

Data source

Company back injury rates: In construction company workers have to face their back injury problems and issues more than 6 times a month. There are around 20% of fatally injured staffs are appointed in construction company (Korosec, 2017).

  • Changes in technology.
  • Insufficient training.
  • Changes in external variables
  • Failures of purposive institutional projects and
  • Failure to solve musculoskeletal issues frequently happened among workers. (Korosec, 2017).

Injury reports has managed by SEASONAL WORKER PROGRAMME (Illness, Injury and fatal) Programs in which whole data and reason has been defined and got understood under European Commission Regulation (Australian Government Department of Employment, 2017).

Company near miss for back injury rates:

Fatal accidents are basically occurred in construction company in case of missing near back injury. It leads to death of the worker within a given period. These are basic facts related to miss near back injury records.

Activity 17.1

Calculations:

Construction Company has appoint 75 workers

Total working hours = 150,000 hours.

Missing/loss back injuries = 8 loss/ per year

Frequency rate:

= Number of lost time injuries in accounting period /Total hours worked in accounting period * 1000000

 = 8/150000 = 0.00005333*1000000

= 53.33 lost-time injuries per million hours worked

Incidence rate.

= No. of recordable injuries / number of employees labor hour worked *200000

= 8/150000*200000 = 10.66

= 10.66 shows that s that for every 100 employees, 10.66 employees have been    involved in a recordable injury or illness

Average lost time/ severity rate

Formula:

=   Work Days Lost x 200,000

Total Hours Worked

= 65 days *200000/150000

= 86.66 days

It indicate that company may lost 86.66 days if it has to work 200000 hour during the year

Before these arrangements, company had decided to collect statistical data and facts related to frequency rate, incidence rate and severity time rate in company regarding loss and back injury issues for evaluation ( Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2013).

Frequency rate would be calculated which indicate about poor condition of company due to high frequency rate. There were around 100 labours who were suffering from back injury and disable to continue their duty sue to reducing capacity. Incidence rate is increasing day by day. After analysis it is analysed that there were around 10.66 % of workers who are being suffered from illness and accidental issues. Company’s security systems and workshops are going to be failed by time to time. Company need to manage overall condition effectively. Employees are responsibility of the construction company. But due to carelessness and weak management System, Company should effective decision to reduce these back injuries’ incidents. Severity rate is the average loss or missing time by which company’s loss related to working procedure can be calculated. After calculation of Severity rate, Company’s loss has been increased by 16.66%. Company will face their working day loss around 86.66% after 10.66% back injury. If remaining workers would work around 200,000 hours still company has to bear 86.66% loss (News release Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2016).

Graphical presentation is given to define company’s frequency rate, severity rate and incidence rate due to back injury of workers:
