Job title:Café Manager

Salary:$24.50 an hour

Hours:Full-time work week covering 38 working hours or part time working Tuesday to Saturday or Wednesday to Saturday

Location:CoffeeVill, 3216, Collins Street, Melbourne

Reporting relationships:Thecafé manager will report to the owner of the café CoffeeVill. The café manager will also be involved in the relationship with the customers. The post for café manager should entertain the customers’ complaints also.

About CoffeeVille:CoffeeVille is café located at the Melbourne Street and serving the customers since the year 2009. A family owned café offering a wide range of quality coffee and on a fair trade basis. There are two partners that run the café named as Emma and Rufus. There are a number of products which are offered by the café to its customers such as hot and cold gourmet food and coffee. The coffee and food prepared at CoffeeVille use the organic ingredients and healthy gluten free products serving health options to the customers. The owners of the café, Emma Belcastran and Rufus Belcastran are involved in intense marketing activities for the promotion of the products and services of the café. The vision of the CoffeeVille is to develop the business within five years and to establish as a reputed brand name in the coffee market in Melbourne.

The purposeof position:The purpose of the post of Café manager in the café is to fulfill the requirement of the manager competent to handle and manage the customer complaints and to cope with the objectives of the café in the direction of growth.As theownershavedecided to open the café on Saturdays too while keeping in consideration the success and popularity of the café among the Melbourne coffee drinkers. For the accomplishment of this goal, CoffeeVille requires a café manager who can be appointed as full-time manager.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibility 1 –To manage staff is the responsibility that is required to be practiced by the café manager. For the purpose of which, the café manager is to be competent in maintaining the excel sheet for recording the data for the employees of the café.

Responsibility 2 –Thecafé manager is responsible for providing the in-house training and arranging the induction programs for the staff of the cafe. He is required to be competent in managing the affairs of the event and provide the desired training to the staff.

Responsibility 3 –The café managershouldbe responsible for conducting the performance appraisal of the employees of café on the regular time intervals. If any deviations are found, necessary measures are to be taken by the manager.

Responsibility 4 –Another responsibility for the café manager is to conduct the staff meetings and is to be competent to maintain the inventory records.

Responsibility 5 –The café manager has the duty to keep the café area clean. The manager is also responsible for keeping the records of materials used in the café.

Responsibility 6 –Welcoming the customers, communicating with them and handling customers’’ complaint.

The negotiation was done with the selection panel to consider the two applicants among the received resumes of the applicable candidates. The two most suitable resumes were selected on the basis of the criteria decided according to the objectives of the café. The questions were decided as per the requirements of the café and were based on the desired qualifications and experienced needed for the post and specified by the owners and the current café manager. The questions were asked considering the laws and legislations as applicable to the industry and there was no violence of the acts applicable. My role in conducting the applicant was the selection of the questions to be asked of the candidates. The panel asked the questions and was satisfied with the selection of the two candidates and found them suitable for according to the roles and responsibilities specified by them towards the post of café manager for CoffeeVille.
