ITC506 Information Technology Ethics

It allows students to enhance their skills that are mandatory to recognize ethical issues that are elevated as a result of the advancement of information and communication technology (ICT). It will cover the areas like professionalism, critical thinking, privacy, ethical theories, security and crime in cyberspace, freedom of speech, intellectual property, systems reliability, and social & ethical issues of emerging technologies.
After successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
a. Recognize the ethical issues related to ICT.
b. Evaluate the implications of ethical problems.

e. Analyze ethical situations using critical thinking technologies.
Students must get minimum 50% marks in to pass this subject.

Assessment 1 (Doing Ethics Technique)
Value:Total value of this assessment is 15%.
Students need to proceed according to the following:
1. Identify an ethical dilemma or ethically questionable situation from ONE of the following four YouTube videos:

2. Undertake further research about the ethical issues you identified in your chosen video to assist you in analyzing and discussing it in your essay.
3. You are required to analyze the ethical dilemma you have identified above using the Doing Ethics Technique (DET). The word limit should be between 900-1000 words. Note: Headings, citations, references and any appendices do not count towards your word limit, but quotations do. At the start of the assignment indicates in brackets the word count of your assignment excluding those items mentioned above.
4. Include a Reference list at the end of your work, in the correct APA referencing style, corresponding to in-text citations.

Value:total value of this assessment task is 20% and you require to complete this assessment within the word limit of 1200-1300 words.
In this task, you will be provided several links to a number of relevant articles or case studies.
a. Choose one of the media articles or case studies listed by the lecturer in your Interact 2subject site.
b. Use the title of the article/case study provided in interact 2 as the title of your essay, so that the lecturer knows which article you are analyzing.
c. Undertake further research about your chosen case, to assist you in analyzing and discussing it in your essay.
