Why Career Counseling is Essential for College Students

A college is a place which provides higher education to students, professionalism or vocational training. It is a place with many professional people and with fixed aim, duties and goals. It is an educational infrastructure institution which has diverse fields of professional courses. It is the type of institution where a student takes admission after school. It gives degrees to the students and provide them acknowledgement about what they have studied during the course of whole college time. It decides what your future will be, for most of the student this is the  time for fun and learn after this they  don’t get time for all fun activities because they will not be able to take time from their jobs to travel around and explore. For most the students this is might be the last decision they can take for their future because after that they will just left with regret on their choice or proud on their decision.

College students are type of students who are new to the business, corporate, or any type of professional world. College students don’t know what to choose, why to choose, what will happen after choosing any field, so they need someone who can guide them on that path. Students want someone who can show them the right way to choose their career path, he find someone’s inner ability by analyzing them and bringing out best of them and advice them to go for the path which will increase their skills and talent. Guidance is something which is needed by everyone on this earth because no one knows about the path he will walk on if he is going for the first time, so they prefer to take the help of the person who is already been on that road and succeed in it. He will be able to tell you about the advantage and disadvantage of opting what someone wants to opt. Guiding or counseling is not ease for both parties, the one who is guiding and the one who is listening to that guidance because a wrong idea can destroy someone’s future or career. Making career is not that easy because there are so many obstacles which a student has to cross and if any student fail’s to clear that roadblock he will be busted by the life.

Councilor is the person who guides the person for their well being. Anyone can be a councilor because this profession just need good knowledge and well grip on practical or emotional thoughts. Counseling is the profession of assistance and solving problems of the person. Counselling needs knowledge of several fields and careers. There are two types of counseling whether counseling by the councillor or self-counseling. In counseling by the councilor, a person or student takes the help of a professional or specialist in the field in which a person or student wants to opt whereas in self counselling a person or a student takes the help of option other than asking some person. In self-counseling, a person or a student takes the help of internet of some article written by someone experienced or by reading a newspaper etc. Both type of counseling is good because in first type an experienced person advices the student and in second type of a student can take the advice of several experts at a time with the help so many means available in the world. Counselling is the profession started by those persons who wants to promote learning, training, education, practice and investigation. So in order to promote these fields, councillor took a step forward to take work experience of all these fields and help the students who are new on these paths. A counsellor is always a man of experience, knowledge, patience, tolerance, listening skills and power to convince others.

So counseling to college going students is really important because so many students in the college do not know what to do in future or why to do in future. Students in college do not know the reason why they have opted the field they are in. This type of confusion is cleared by the councilor and due to his help student really find their way to the future, so counseling is really important for college students.
